A POP OF COLOR
Styling a monochrome outfit may seem easy and for most people the go to option is to add a pop of color. Sometimes however, when faced with the option of styling a monochrome print piece, things might get tricky. While a pop of color might be easy to pull off with one block color, when it comes to a print or pattern, you may need to think a bit harder. You already have a piece that’s calling for attention on its own and you don’t want your outfit to come off as too busy. However done properly you can totally pull it off.
I like to call this look the not so subtle pop of color. Obviously only one item needs to pop. This piece can be a blazer, a bag or a pair of shoes. Ensure it’s a block color (not another pattern) and keep everything else neutral. For this look I paired my Aztec monochrome skirt with a white blouse, black pumps and black shoes. I added the hot-pink blazer for the color pop effect. Interesting thing about this look is that if I took off the blazer, it would be a completely different style. I’m all about versatility and this outfit did that for me. And play safe with statement jewellery here because you already have two statement pieces, the skirt and the blazer.
