This site is an extension of my work as a style consultant and upcoming fashion editor and writer/blogger. It contains links to my published style articles, the yet to be published articles as well as my personal style journal, advice on adoption of trends and style tips, but most importantly, ways in which we can work together to reassert, redefine and rediscover your personal style. Here, I also invite you to share your opinion and insight on style and fashion, and each week we will put up one of your articles to share with the rest of the readers on the ‘Elegant You’ section. So thank you for stopping by, I hope we have lots of educative fun.
Why Stylist?
It would be utterly vain of me to say that being a stylist was my goal all along. Because then I would fail to recognize and appreciate the challenge from my friends, colleagues and sometimes utter strangers who time and again have asked me this seemingly uninteresting question, ‘where do you buy your clothes?’ Because in an effort to answer this question, surprisingly, I saw myself get interested in style consulting in a bid to share my innate love for good dressing. I realized that what I needed to do was not answer their question on where to shop, because it was the wrong question. Instead if they were able to learn the right question to ask, which I believe is “how do you decide what to buy, and when you do, how do you decide what to pair with what, when?’ then we would make progress. The mind process of what to purchase, how to put it together and for what occasion is so simple but surprisingly the key to good dressing. Where you decide to shop then, is secondary.
Let’s Work Together
Working with women frequently in the media glare during my career in the PR industry, I have found myself time and again in situations where I have offered wardrobe consultancy, and I discovered that I immensely enjoy it, and that I am good at it! Seeking formal training in the fashion industry opened my eyes to the possibilities of the meaningful work I could do with fashion and style. To be able to inspire women, especially African women to rediscover and embrace their personal taste in dressing, that which not only defines them but also prompts them to ask how they can showcase their best self to the world. Grace and elegance can never go out of fashion. Your wardrobe need not be only fashionable, but also practical, sophisticated and versatile. It is a way to show the world the beauty inside you, without adopting unnecessary trends, spending monumental sums of money or succumbing to discomfort to fit in. My hope is that you will trust me enough to invite me to share your journey of self-discovery, so that together we can create for you an elegant, versatile and practical wardrobe that stays in touch with your identity. What you wear speaks for you before you open your mouth, it is best to ensure it sticks to the facts. You are beautiful, graceful and elegant. Now let us show the world that side of you!
