I excitedly dug up my old black Bardot top when I realised the style is back on trend! It’s amazing how fashion evolves. Maybe that’s why I always insist that it’s safer to invest in a timeless wardrobe that’s not being dictated by trends. For the most part anyway because some trends are super cute and simply unavoidable. I honestly however think that it is possible to have a classic wardrobe and still be trendy. The oldest trick in the book is to buy basic pieces that you can pair with literally anything, ensure they are good quality and make them the foundation of your wardrobe. Remember this article I wrote over a year ago on Nairobi News? If you are wondering, it gives you great ideas to kick-start your journey to setting up the foundation of your practical and classic wardrobe. So read it when you can (if you need the tips)
Anyway back to the outfit of today. I’ve had this top for like forever. Since the time off-shoulder and Bardot tops were in and then they weren’t. I have this trick for styling an off-shoulder piece differently; just lift the sleeves up the shoulder’s and voila, it’s just a normal top. See this post. (Of course some styles may not cooperate).
For this look, I paired the black bardot top with a midi pencil skirt in a beautiful emerald shade. Love how well this color goes with black by the way. Also the store I got this skirt from is one of my favorites because they have the most unique and at the same time classic pieces, and unbelievably affordable! Seriously guys check them out.
