You guys may remember my already confessed love for capes or anything with a cape element from a recent post. As I had mentioned I have been looking capes, capelets and anything that generally comes in a similar that style. So I acquired this cape through a rather funny online shopping experience. You know that feeling when you see something you like online and inquire on its availability only to be told it just got sold out? Shortest horror story, right? Anyway, so I was looking for a sleeveless blazer and I saw some really nice ones in an online store.  However when I inquired I was told, ‘oh we have that only in burgundy!’ And no that’s not the color I had in mind. I had to go back to the drawing board and figure out how a burgundy sleeveless blazer would work on my closet. And convinced myself that it would! Only that when the order arrived, it was more of a cape than a blazer and it wasn’t even the one I had seen! This one was rather sassy. Yes you can imagine my happy dance.

Anyway long story short, I have worn this cape twice already and I got it only last month! And that’s saying something where I’m concerned seeing that the dress I’m wearing it with has been in my closet for two years and never been worn. (Yes we all have those impulse buys that need a bit more thought before we can actually wear them) luckily this cape breathed some much needed life into this dress. I wore it to a wedding with another dress (see Instagram post here), and it easily did the job of glamorizing a simple body-con dress. The cape came with a belt that I doubt I’ll be using.

So because capes come in different styles it might seem like a hard feat to pull off a cape outfit but it isn’t really.  What’s important to note is that a cape does add glamour to your outfit be it a pair of jeans, a jumpsuit or a dress. So if you are looking to glam up an outfit, I’d say add a cape to it.

I’m wearing a burgundy cape from Malfel Clothing (found them on Facebook), Nine West black studded pumps and a silver clutch I got from Jumia.
