HOW TO TASTEFULLY WEAR CLASSICS
How to collect and style wardrobe classics seems to be the most popular topic in these style (and fashion) streets. Most people however concentrate more on how to style classics as one item and spend a lot of time looking for complimenting pieces. While this is not an entirely wrong way to look at things, another creative thing you can do with your wardrobe essentials (classics are essentials) is pair them together. In fact, this style creates such a clean and chic minimalistic style that you may not have thought you could pull off. The idea is however not to be too bland about everything. Some oomph is required for classics to come together. For instance, if you are wearing black with white, throw in some light neutral color instead of crisp white. Think nude/peach/baby-pink (maybe the blazer or shoes). Or some cream/off-white/champagne etc. This will instantly add some sass to your previously super basic attire.
Also remember wearing classic pieces is the easiest way to make your outfit seem more serious and grown up while still being super elegant if you are looking to exude such a vibe. That’s why black or nude pumps, barely there strappy sandals and structured blazers, which alone do not necessarily fall under the category of the most exciting wardrobe pieces, end up being so popular among women who love to dress well. Case in point, my outfit today is based on head to toe basics in my wardrobe. Basically each item here is super simple and can be worn with another item in my closet (that’s what classics are about) without thinking twice. But put together, the black peplum top, (peplum is one trend that has evolved to a classic btw) basic black pants (jeans), peach blazer and nude shoes do go perfectly well together. And note, the light neutrals are paired with darks specifically, instead of crisp white, to give a sort of laid back contrast hence looking more tasteful than if they had been paired with say white or more black. Even when you wear white, ensure you include another light neutral in your outfit to add character. See this post, also this one. I added this elegant trapeze bag that goes with everything to the ensemble and voila, there is something anyone can wear with no qualms, right? Effortless chic is actually that…effortless!
