Bright colors and fun prints tend to always dominate my tropical getaway wardrobe, and this year was no exception. I mean who wants to wear dull clothes when surrounded by the most incredible of all nature namely beautiful trees, a few monkeys, mongooses and others whose names I can’t recall, AND the ocean. Also, I had no idea Kitenge would be such a perfect fabric for the tropics even when I was packing these shorts. Honestly I think I just picked them because the fun print was calling to me. And for the fact that I have had them in my closet for almost a year and hadn’t had an opportunity to take them for a spin. Something about the print that just didn’t feel right with the city atmosphere. I don’t know maybe it’s just me… I wore the shorts on a day of chill and low-key exploration on my recently concluded tropical vacation. And surprisingly I wasn’t planning to blog this outfit until I saw the pictures and realized the print is quite pretty. Besides the pretty print, the shorts were surprisingly comfortable as well. I am even inspired to add more Kitenge pieces to my wardrobe.I find light cotton to be an ideal fabric for tropical weather because of it’s ability to absorb sweat and moisture leaving your body dry and cool. So this orange shirt was perfect to complete my outfit. It was also awesome to get and opportunity to rock an African print and fabric while on vacation.
Also, are you guys feeling this Swahili architecture vibe going on here? I was lucky to call this well kept secret home for almost two weeks! Such a great time I had and was kinda sad to leave. I will tell you more about where I stayed in my next post, coming soon.
