LOUNGING IN BASIC BLACK

Location: Moniko’s Kitchen

“We’re so busy watching out for what’s just ahead of us that we don’t take time to enjoy where we are.” ― Bill Watterson
LBD, black body-con dress, formal black gown, all black everything et al. I haven’t yet met a person who doesn’t love the stretch of options this color brings to the fashion world. Be it for a night out, a cocktail party, a day in the office, or a formal event, we all have that black dress we go for when duty calls. Also, if you can add some character to yours, why not.I love several things about this dress. The fabric stretches but it’s firm at the same time, which makes its fit super amazing. Then there’s the white detail that I find so subtle yet makes a whole lot of difference to the initial LBD vibe. Actually I think that the white addition makes the dress rather formal which works for me because I probably have too many black dresses anyway. So what’s the harm in a little spruce up huh? And just like that, this decidedly formal black dress made its way to my wardrobe basics.
Last Thursday, after a rather busy morning characterized by unusually crazier levels of traffic in Nairobi (the agricultural show being to blame I hear), I had the luck of discovering yet another chill spot in this beautiful city. You may have seen a few videos on my InstaStory. As you may know I am in the habit of scouring the city and its outskirts for beautiful spaces. So much so that I guess you could say love for beautiful spaces come in a close second to fashion in my world. So when I discovered this cool spot at Valley Arcade, I was sure it was the perfect place to forget all the hustle and bustle for that day. And probably come back another day. I was ecstatic.
I think this is a good time to confess that I do love my lounge time and this place did not in the least disappoint. I had such a great time at Moniko’s Kitchen. The food was amazing, drink options plenty and the Wi-Fi fast and reliable. Their wine selection is also definitely something to write home about. And the serenity and laid back ambience is all I needed to unwind after a long day. What else would a girl with a love for good food and all things elegant need? I am definitely going back there. And soon. I was able to capture a few pictures mainly in the wine lounge (they have a huge sitting space outside as well) but you take it from me, the whole place is popping and definitely worth a visit.
Hope you enjoy the pictures ! Scroll below for more and outfit details as well.
Thanks for reading and stay elegant.
