You all must know by now that I’m a sucker for simplicity and the most outrageous piece in my closet has to be a leopard print dress that I talked about some time back here. Because my style is mostly simple elegant (or rather that’s what I try to go for 🙂 , I happen to be more comfortable with neutral shades than loud colors. The beauty of neutrals is that they will form a great base for your outfit when you want to play with bolder colors. But what most people do not know is that you can easily achieve an elegant look by pairing the neutral colors with each other. And no, not the famous monochrome but let’s get a little creative. I know you must have noticed that neutral outfits are always stylish and look great when paired well. So let me share with you one of the many ways to style your neutral shades and maybe this will save you some trouble the next time you are getting ready for that important event.
One trick I found that really works is to combine the soft hues like beige or taupe or champagne with a stronger color like white or black, hence creating some sort of dimension. For instance, I paired my white tailored pencil dress with nude/champagne heels and this pretty Coach wallet I recently added to my wardrobe. Because I was going for the fresh look, I chose my daintiest accessories i.e. the watch, earrings and necklace, and minimal fresh make-up. Also in neutral palettes was my purse and sunglasses, but in darker shades to subtly add some character to the whole look. This my friends, is the surest, easiest way to achieve effortless elegance.
