THE PERFECT HOLIDAY DRESS?
Location: Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf Resort
Hey guys, I hope you are having a great week. So last Saturday was my 29th birthday! I’m pretty excited about turning twenty-nine and counting all the milestones I’ve reached so far… I’m truly grateful for all the experiences! I spent the most magical weekend at the Great Rift Valley Lodge with my amazing family. It was such a sweet laid back way to celebrate the start of the final year of my 20’s. I’m counting on this one to be epic.
Anyway so every year after my birthday I tend to officially get into the festive mood. For me, it’s like 19th November marks the start of the holiday season. This is the time I begin to think about holiday attire, especially the hustle of finding a perfect holiday dress (or dresses) for all the parties that begin to pop up towards the year’s end. From family dinners to corporate events, you really have to start thinking about what to wear around this time of year.
So today I’m sharing with you my very first holiday dress this year, which I wore to my birthday dinner. The first thing that struck me about this dress is the fabric and the attention to detail. So much thought seems to have gone into making it. I so love the floral detail, the intricate embroidery and the beautiful beadwork! Also, no it didn’t cost a fortune. In fact, I got it from this great vintage and thrift store I recently discovered online. Despite the fact that they only have one unique piece in one unique size so you have to book like immediately before those horrible words ‘sold out’ appear on your coveted item, the great finds are worth camping online for. And then of course my tailor had to do some major resizing despite it being a size 6 so it may not have been all breezy. But all in all I’m super content with the end result. My festive mood wouldn’t let me stay away from red, so these suede block heel sandals came in handy. And red nail polish. Perfect birthday girl dinner wear I think.
Are you already compiling your holiday wardrobe? What are you wearing to this year’s festivities? Whatever you choose, ensure it complements your style, that it’s both fabulous and elegant but also, remember it doesn’t hurt to deviate from the norm and have a little fun. Who knows, ruffles and sparkles might be all the holiday cheer you need ?
Thanks for reading and stay elegant!
Xoxo,
Dottie
